1. Version

These release notes describe the changes, fixes, known issues, and release details that apply to SANsurfer FC HBA Command Line Interface (CLI), version 1.7.0 build 12 for Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS X operating systems.

2. Changes

The following changes have been made to the the SANsurfer FC HBA Command Line Interface (CLI) between versions 1.06.16 build 57 and 1.7.0 Build 12.

Hardware Support

  • Restored NVRAM factory defaults on 4Gb cards.
  • SFF DMI for all 4Gb cards.

OS Support

  • Added support for Windows Vista x86 and x64.
  • Added support for Windows 2003 SP2.
  • Added support for Red Hat 5 and SUSE Linux 10.

Software Components

  • Diagnostic changes to support Jitter patterns with loopback/echo.
  • Sysfs/inbox driver support on SLES 10.
  • Linux MAX LUN Support to 4K.
  • Solaris QLA MAX Target support to 2K.
  • HBA/Port Alias settings.
  • Host Topology.
  • New display of target serial numbers.

3. Bug Fixes

The following fix has been made to the SANsurfer FC HBA Command Line Interface (CLI) between versions 1.06.16 build 57 and 1.7.0 Build 12.

NOTE: Upgrading to this version is recommended.

  • Updated APIs across all platforms.

4. Known Issues

The following table describes issues that exist in the SANsurfer FC HBA Command Line Interface (CLI), version 1.7.0 build 12.

Known Issue Workaround
When running SANsurfer FC CLI or any other application that uses the Solaris SDMAPI, the following issue occurs if the process is killed or the system bug checks. The file that synchronized the different processes may be left behind, created by sem_open call.

If this file is left behind in /var/tmp/.SEMD, any QLogic application will fail to open any HBAs during initialization. 		To resolve this issue, you must remove the file manually. The specific default file absolute path is:
/var/tmp/.SEMD/qlsdm_dbsem_2

NOTE: There is no standard for the /var/tmp folder, which the "TMPDIR" system environment variables can overwrite. Please check your specific system for the exact value.
On Solaris, due to changes in the API interface, this version of the application must use QLA driver version 5.02 or later. Using a previous version of the driver with this application corrupts the driver's qla2300.conf file while configuring failover and/or persistant binding.  
Under Windows Vista x64, executing the SANsurfer FC CLI application requires Administrator Privileges. Set this privilege: Right-click on the SANsurfer FC CLI and select Property > Compatibility > Privilege Level, then select the Run this program as Administrator option.
